    Due to continued growth and a need to strengthen the current operations management team, we are looking to recruit a Shift Manager to provide shift leadership in our fast-moving 24/7 operation. Reporting to the UK Manufacturing Manager, the role will take responsibility for all shift activities; Output, Quality, H&S, Manufacturing Efficiency (Yield), Maintenance Activities, Staff Management, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, and Shift Administration.

    Shift Manager Role

    Duties will include;

    • Liaising with colleagues to ensure the work activities of all extrusion lines is carried out in line with production plan in order to keep 'downtime' to a minimum.
    • Ensuring production output across the shift is in accordance with Company and customer quality guidelines, e.g. colour, tolerance, profile.
    • Ensure that non-conformance is challenged and counter-measures are agreed and implemented
    • Reporting on downtime, scrap, and quality issues, and escalating as appropriate.
    • Taking appropriate action to remedy products identified as being out of specification and following appropriate notification procedure.
    • Effectively managing the team ensuring that KPI's (key performance indicators) are achieved.
    • Managing absences to ensure minimal impact on team/KPI's.
    • Managing holiday allocation on shift.
    • Training, coaching and motivating team to ensure effective skill levels and multi skilling across machines.
    • Continuous auditing of conduct in line with Safety, Quality, Food safety and Production guidelines.
    • Incident investigation.
    • Shift and overtime planning.
    • Data collection.
    • Root cause analysis.
    • Appraisal and feedback activity.
    • Develop work related instructions.
    • Carry out risk assessments and contribute to a wider culture and H&S excellence.
    • Performing formal investigations and disciplinary meetings with the support of HR.

    The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory/team leadership experience within a fast moving manufacturing environment.

    Applicants should also be able to demonstrate;

    • The ability to work to deadlines.
    • Excellent communication/people management skills.
    • The ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a wider multi-functional team.
    • Strong motivation to achieve and sustain quantitative and qualitative results and deliver tangible improvements.
    • IOSH Managing Safely certificate/similar or commitment to complete the qualification whilst in the role.
    • Proven record in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to deal with conflict and resolution in a mature manner.
    • Previous experience in manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
    • Familiarity with modern manufacturing tools; 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, Poke Yoke, Kaizen.
