- Develop and implement data governance strategies and frameworks to ensure the effective management of data assets.
- Establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures to maintain data integrity and quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data governance requirements and guidelines for data collection, storage, and usage.
- Design and implement data governance processes, including data classification, data lineage, metadata management, and data access controls.
- Conduct regular data audits and assessments to identify data quality issues and recommend remediation actions.
- Monitor and enforce data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Provide guidance and training to employees on data governance best practices and standards.
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies, such as data cataloging and data lineage tools.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data governance and recommend improvements to enhance data management practices.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data governance initiatives align with business objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in data governance or data management roles, preferably in a large organization.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their implications on data governance.
- Knowledge of data management technologies, such as data cataloging, data lineage, and metadata management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data quality issues and devise effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in implementing data governance frameworks and driving cultural change within an organization.
- Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks, such as DAMA-DMBOK, is desirable.
- Professional certifications in data management or data governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus.
