An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our friendly Admin Team working in the Unscheduled Care Directorate based at the Great Western Hospital.

You will be working within the Acute Medicine Department, but may, at times, be required to work in other Departments within the Directorate.


This role is predominantly for Saturday and Sunday's shifts between the hours of 08:00 - 20:00 with some week-day working.

You will be part of an established and friendly ward clerk team.


The Acute Medical Unit provides a front door service to medical patients dealing with a high volume of patients per day over four Units (Shalbourne MAU/Same Day Emergency Unit (SDEC)/Linnet & Medical Expected Unit.


The Ward Clerk will undertake data inputting and administrative work whilst also providing reception duties for the Unit as per standard systems and processes, in order to support effective patient flow.

The Ward Clerk will need to work without close supervision, using their own initiative when dealing with enquiries that arise.

Close co-operation with Medical Records, Secretarial staff as well as the clinical staff, is vital.

The post demands the ability to communicate at all levels with patients, relatives and medical colleagues to maintain a high standard of service to meet the needs of the patient and the business.
