SSEN are looking for three Senior Authorised Persons to join our maintenance and inspection team in the South East region.


They will be responsible for the organisation, safe isolation, repair and execution of maintenance and inspection on HV equipment up to 132,000V in line with the companies' policies and operational procedures.


If successful, you will play a key role in the team to ensure that our positive safety culture is upheld, the team are set to work safely, and all plant and equipment is operating within designated limits.


You will be an ambassador for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks when interacting with customers, including National Grid and small scale power stations, to deliver excellent customer service.


What Do I Need ?


A driving licence and flexible approach to working hours is a must because the role will require you to travel throughout the Southeast Region and for you to take part in an out of hours standby rota.


SS04 Skill Expectations £31,339 - £35,892

  • Category 2 & 3 authorisations
  • Supervise a working party.


  • Category 7 authorisations

  • HV Switching up to 11KV.
  • Category 10 a &/or b authorisations (LV)
  • Mobile generator Live and dead connection.

Typical Tasks

  • Carries out timing tests on feeder circuits.
  • Connects and operates mobile LV generators.
  • Finds and repairs faults using knowledge and specialised equipment e.g. thermal imaging cameras.
  • Supervises a working party.

SS05 Skill Expectations £35,142 - £40,246

  • Category 12 b authorisation
  • NOP.
  • Category 14 c &/or d authorisations
  • Issue and cancel Permit To Work on 11KV systems.

Typical Tasks

  • Operates HV systems up to and including 11kV to NOP 1 (issues documents through control).
  • Takes local control of HV systems up to and including 11kV to NOP 2 (issues documents as local controller).
  • Issues and cancels permit to work up to and including 11Kv.

SSE06 Skill Expectations £39,415 - £45,136

  • Category 14 e & f authorisations
  • Issue and cancel Permit To Work on 33KV systems.
  • Basic protection testing qualification (level 1 & 2).
  • Category 16 d authorisation.

Typical Tasks

  • Issues and cancels permit to work up to and including 33kV on overhead and underground network.
  • Acts as an approved 33kV SAP assessor.
  • Carries out basic protection testing.
