    Interior Lighting Engineer

    • The role allows for Hybrid working, with a mix of time spent between Crewe and working from home

    Scope of the role

    We are seeking an Interior lighting engineer to be part of a bigger team working on the next-generation user experience.

    Reporting to the Functional Manager of Audio & Output devices.

    The interior lighting Engineer role is responsible for delivering Pre-series and series Automotive Interior lighting electronics/software and Hardware solutions for the next-generation projects and daily management of the project.

    Working closely with our VW group counterparts to develop lighting functions, systems, and architectures to enable best-in-class Interior lighting solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Definition and development of Interior lighting systems.
    • Functional and Software requirements defined and specified.
    • Specification creation and test plan management.
    • Function owner requirements captured and developed using systems engineering.
    • Manage Software and Hardware releases in accordance with the Bentley PEP process.
    • Project manage the delivery of the system inclusive of Internal and external stake holders.
    • Coordinate product validation/integration inclusive of rig and in vehicle testing.
    • • End to end ownership of Interior lighting development.

    Skills and Experience required.

    • Previous experience of Automotive lighting electronics and delivery.
    • Interior lighting System integration.
    • Automotive validation of Interior lighting solutions.
    • Good collaboration skills to be used across the business and the wider Group.
    • Ability to work independently with autonomy.
    • Flexibility to travel overseas to support development activities.
    • A full driving license is essential.
    • German language skills would be advantageous

    Practical and Technical Knowledge

    • Experience of in-vehicle communications and Electrical Architecture networks.
    • Working knowledge of common vehicle architecture, such as FLEX-RAY, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS, SPI, etc.
    • Automotive Software diagnostic tools, ODIS, Idex, CANoe, CP tool, & IDEX.
    • Able to prototype lighting functions using affordable off-the-shelf electronics, such as Arduinos, Raspberry Pie, and custom PCs.

    Education Requirements

    • Degree in Automotive Electronics/Electrical Engineering/ or equivalent experience
    • Experience in delivering Automotive Interior lighting systems.
