Reporting into a Regulatory Investigation Manager, as an Investigation Specialist you will be responsible for completing specific tasks such as completing witness statements to support ongoing investigations, engaging with stakeholders, and keeping them updated on the progress of cases.
You will also be responsible for owning and managing a caseload of your own and will identify, obtain, and analyse evidence, including witness statements and conduct regulatory investigations to maintain public confidence in the regulatory process.
You will do this through excellent case management, careful and robust decision making, timely progression and delivery of high standards of customer service.
You will build relationships both internally and externally with members and stakeholders and manage any investigations and potential disciplinary action in a transparent and accountable way in accordance with RICS Professional Standards, Rules of Conduct and Bye-Laws.
Key Responsibilities
- You will proactively support ongoing investigations by drafting witness statements and production statements, and by completing administrative work on cases such as putting together bundles, responding to queries from the case parties involved in the investigation and dealing with requests for disclosure.
- You will prioritise and manage an investigation caseload and make sure cases are progressed and concluded in accordance with KPl's, and highquality standards.
- You will analyse and investigate concerns about RICS regulated firms and members, including gathering and evaluating evidence, and making casework decisions at the appropriate level of delegation.
- You will produce first class written documentation, including drafting allegations, preparing bundles of evidence and reports for Head of Regulation.
- You will make robust decisions in the public interest demonstrating sound judgment, a balanced and fair view, supported by reasoned arguments.
- You will communicate clear advice and decisions to members, firms, and the public as appropriate.
- You will provide information, help and advice to the public, members, and regulated firms about Regulation to maintain public confidence in the profession and to assist with compliance, assurance, education and profession engagement.
Experience / Skills Required
- Proven experience working within a regulatory environment and operational delivery in a regulatory or complaint handling environment
- Experience of taking proofs of evidence and/or witness statements
- Strong experience in drafting documents to a highquality standard
- Experience of influencing and constructively challenging internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to contribute to team cohesion, engagement and collective responsibility and accountability
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages for different audiences
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service while dealing with sensitive and complex issues
- Experience of managing and progressing own caseload
