    The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

    Hourly rate of pay: £13.11
    This is a 39 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.

    Days and Hours of Work:
    Monday & Tuesday, 08:00-13:00
    Wednesday & Thursday, 08:00-13:15
    Friday, 08:00-12:30

    North Berwick High School is a secondary school in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, which received an excellent HMIE inspection report in June . The current school roll is . Expansion work to create more classrooms and improved facilities has recently been completed. Strong links have been developed with the local community and a broad range of extra curricular activities are on offer.     The post is within our science faculty, which includes classes in biology, chemistry and physics. There are 10 permanent teaching staff, 1 science technician and a laboratory assistant all managed by the Faculty Leader. In addition to the more generic S1 and S2 classes, each specific subject in the faculty is taught at S3, National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels.

    In addition to the tasks detailed in the job outline, the successful candidate will gain experience of the following:

  • Assisting with the design and assembly of equipment and apparatus for use in experiments.
  • Preparing laboratory standard solutions and mixtures for use in practical classes.
  • Organising and maintaining science equipment and ensuring they are stored safely.
  • Carrying out stock control in conjunction with the Science Technician.
  • Preparing and filing paperwork for lessons at appropriate times throughout the academic year.

    To assist the Science Technician in preparing practical experiments and paperwork for the science classes. The job also involves cleaning and maintenance of equipment within the science department. The Jobholder is responsible for ensuring that equipment is available for use by teachers and students.
