A fantastic opportunity for an experienced and confident Payroll Assistant to join a challenging, fast-paced role within a well - established, growing business based on the outskirts of the Headingley area of Leeds.

The company are offering an initial salary of up to £29,000, depending on experience, alongside a market leading benefits package with a competitive pension scheme, free onsite parking and the chance to work within a long standing and friendly payroll team.

Reporting into the Payroll Manager, this role offers real opportunity to develop and progress and will give exposure to an extremely knowledgeable and personable Payroll Manager.


Key responsibilities for the Payroll Assistant will include:

  • Assisting with the full payroll cycle from creating starters and leavers through to the processing of payments
  • Supporting with both high volume weekly and monthly payrolls
  • First point of contact for any payroll queries and ensuring they are resolved within appropriate timescales
  • Processing and calculating any employee benefits such as SSP,SMP and ensuring that any deductions or changes in payments are processed correctly
  • Supporting with the monthly pensions submissions process
  • Working closely with both the payroll and the HR team in terms of the onboarding process and ensuring any international payments are made
  • Auditing and reconciliation of payroll information and documentation to ensure appropriate authorisation
  • Accurately inputting information at all times and supporting the payroll audit process for both external and internal parties
  • General payroll administration and dealing with HMRC and other relevant bodies when necessary and using the inhouse systems
To be successful in this Payroll Assistant role, you will:

  • Have previous payroll experience
  • Have excellent customer skills and will be confident dealing with key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Have strong IT and Excel skills and be able to pick up new skills and systems quickly
  • Be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy while working to strict deadlines
  • Have up to date understanding of payroll legislation and will be adaptable to change and new processes
We are especially keen to speak with individuals who have experience in Payroll and payroll processes.

Ideally, you will be a Payroll Assistant, Payroll Administrator or Payroll Coordinator seeking a new challenge or a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Accounts Administrator where payroll has been a key part of your role and you are wishing to pursue this further.


Based on the outskirts of Headingley, this role is commutable from Kirkstall, Bramley, Armley, Horsforth and is close to Leeds City Centre.

Car parking is available on-site and the location is easily accessible via public transport.
