This is a fantastic newly created role as Head of Tax. You will be joining a very exciting, fast paced, fast growth Retailer.

As the business continues to expand and grow, with both wholesale and retail, so does the requirement for an expert to play a reallycrucial part to the business.

As Head of Tax you will report into the CFO and work closely with the wider senior stakeholders and finance teams across the business.

You will also grow your team in time which will offer exciting challenge and exposures as amanager.


Our client has stores across the UK and Ireland, supply to over 70 Countries and have an impressive Corporate partnerships within all sports.


What is the role;
A critical senior role in the ongoing evolution of the finance function in a rapidly growing international business.

The role will be responsible for the tax requirements and activities across all territories, ensuring that all filing/compliance requirementsare met and that the optimal position is maintained.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring the effective operation of the Tax function within the finance team
  • Oversee the preparation of all UK and International VAT returns
  • Work to minimise liabilities, support with compliance issues and give tax planning advice.
  • Communicate laws in an easytounderstand way for the wider business, providing clear strategies.
  • Assist in the reviewing the group's statutory structure and identify any recommendations to improve the structure and tax efficiency of the group
  • Review the group's VAT position, identify any risks, shortfalls, issues and lead the implementation of mitigating action to minimise any impact
  • Support the finance team with both monthly and annual financial reporting requirements
  • Implement appropriate control frameworks and policies

Knowledge and Skills/Experience:


  • 3+ years PQE
  • Excellent working knowledge of best practice UK and International VAT law, compliance and reporting
  • Ability to manage external advisors where relevant
  • Driven individual, who is used to working in a rapidly changing environment and who is comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change.
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
