    Description

    Construction Heavy Plant Mechanic. Caribbean.
    USD$70k net plus accommodation, 4 weeks paid vacation, flights.
    My client is a leading infrastructure contractor with operations ongoing in several Caribbean locations.

    Due to a full orderbook and planned growth, they are seeking to appoint a heavy plant mechanic with management responsibility for supervising a local team and managing the workshop.

    The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of the extensive fleet of construction plant and machinery, including dozers, graders, excavators, trucks, and more. This hands-on position not only requires exceptional mechanical and technical expertise but also strong leadership and management skills to oversee the workshop team and operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the workshop team, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance and repair of construction plant and machinery.
    • Perform hands-on diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of construction equipment.
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
    • Order and manage inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring availability while controlling costs.
    • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to prioritize equipment needs and maintenance schedules.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and policies within the workshop and maintenance operations.
    • Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
    Requirements:
    • Proven experience as a Construction Plant Mechanic, Hands on Plant Manager or similar role, with hands-on expertise in maintaining and repairing construction plant and machinery.
    • Strong technical knowledge of construction equipment, including dozers, graders, excavators, trucks, etc.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a skilled workforce.
    • Proficiency in managing inventory and ordering parts and supplies.
    • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
    • Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical engineering, heavy equipment maintenance, or related fields are highly desirable.
    This role is offered on a single status basis and is not suitable for accompanying partners.

    4 weeks paid vacation is offered, plus two return flights to home country annually.
