The Stroke Speech and Language Therapy team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is looking for an innovative and passionate SLT to join us - could that be you? If you have a strong interest for stroke care and are excited by the opportunity to work within a Comprehensive Stroke Centre, this is the job for you You would work as part of a developing team who provide cross site cover in the comprehensive stroke unit based at The Royal Preston Hospital and the early rehabilitation unit at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.


This post would provide opportunity to work with an established but growing MDT who are dedicated to providing best patient care and continuous innovation.


We are looking for NQP or established band 5 SLTs with a passion for stroke for this band 5-6 development post.

Regular supervision, CPD and stroke department specific competencies are provided with plenty of peer support


You would have opportunity to develop your skills within enhanced care with the planned opening of the HASU unit and our growing Thrombectomy service along with your skills in stroke rehabilitation.

There is no better time to join the team than now following recent business case investment with the SLT stroke service starting a 6 and in future, 7-day service.


To support the delivery of the Speech and Language Therapy service to Stroke To use specialist clinical skills to assess, diagnose and manage dysphagia and disorders of communication respectively.


To work effectively within multidisciplinary teams To represent Speech and Language Therapy in best interest meeting and goal setting meetings for patients To proactively manage risk and ensure safe care is provided at all times To demonstrate skills in motivating patients to engage in therapeutic process To use excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and a flexible approach to work practice To maintain clinical professional development and be up to date with research and advancements in Stroke.

This post would sit within the wider Speech and Language therapy service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

We are a large team of 24.0 wte staff and are part of Integrated Nutrition and Communication Services which includes the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition Nurses.

There is regular access to instrumental assessment of FEES and VFS with an established and experienced service.

We are a friendly team rated 'GOLD' on the STAR quality assurance framework with a strong commitment to evidence based practice with regular CPD, appraisal and training opportunities.
