About the Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Healthcare Assistant within Ambrose Avenue Group Practice.
Role responsibilities / job description includes:
- Undertake all patient health checks, including new patients, senior patients and all other eligible patient population.
- Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height and weight recording findings accurately
- Facilitate routine and 24hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
- Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
- Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
- Carry out BMI checks as directed
- Carry out INR clinics.
- Act as a chaperone as required
- Undertake Venepuncture clinics
- When trained, administer flu vaccinations
- Visit housebound patients when required.
- Carry out ECGs as requested
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Provide support during minor operations as required
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice Infection Control policy
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
- Undertaking all other clinical activities identified by the Management or clinical team in accordance with the agreed protocols.
- Assist Practitioners with emergency management of patients.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent;
- Ideally a qualification in Phlebotomy/Venepuncture;
- Strong clinical skills;
- Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post;
- Experience within Primary Care and/or Healthcare setting;
- Excellent patientfacing communication and interpersonal skills;
- Consistently confidential manner as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
- Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team;
- Strong organisational and time management skills.

The Colte Partnership is a GP super-partnership, who went live on 1st June 2017. It brings together 9 local surgeries across Colchester and Tendring covering over approx. 98,000 patients.

- Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre & Rowhedge Medical Centre
- Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre
