    Job summary

    We have an opportunity for a Principal Applied Psychologist working in the Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Older Adults Service. The role involves working both within the Memory Assessment Team and the Scarborough Older Person's Community Mental Health Team. The successful candidate will have additional post qualification competencies in neuropsychology and/or governed psychological therapy.

    The post is a fulltime (37.5 hours) permanent post however we will consider part time hours (a minimum of 34 hours may be considered) and flexible working arrangements are available. Scarborough & the surrounding area is a stunningly beautiful with countryside & coast with direct trains to York & Leeds.

    Main duties of the job

    The role will work across two clinical services:

    The post holder would be working integrally with the CMHT in Scarborough, enhancing the team's MDT committed approach, working closely with a team who are passionate about their work with older people & eager to collaborate & learn from the team psychologist. This role would involve offering formulation & psychological intervention for those clients & their families on the functional & organic pathways, contributing to complex risk assessment, supporting the team in complex risk assessment. Upskilling & supporting application of non governed psychological therapies and TIC would also be integral to role

    The post holder will be offering training & consultation to team members, in relation to assessment of memory difficulties & interpretation of screening. They themselves would of course be carrying out, interpreting & communicating results of specialised and complex neuropsychological assessment with a wide range of referrals. Diagnostic feedback & post diagnostic support to clients and families alongside support & supervision to other team members & assistant psychologist would also be an important part of this role.

    Additionally, the role would include elements of professional leadership supporting the Psychological Professions Lead and contributing to a collective leadership approach with the service operational and clinical leadership in the locality.

    Qualifications

  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical/counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
