Job Description Role:
Process Technician Mechanical as primary trade


Salary:
Up to £38,400 depending on experience and qualifications

Location:
Burham

Hours:
Full-time, 38 hours per week - Monday to Wednesday 8am to 4.30pm, Thursday to Friday 8am to 15:30pm
Your experience in the Mechanical field is valuable to us here at Southern Water.

You have the opportunity earn a great initial salary package of up to £38,400 per annum if you have a Mechanical background and the relevant experience.

There is additional shiftallowance and a great company benefits package, in a role with stability, ongoing training and progression combined.

There will be an increase in salary for any individual who would be keen to train in the electrical field and become a multiskilled technician.

You will also take on additional tasks which for which you will be provided extra earnings on top of your basic salary package.

Without our Process Technicians, Southern Water customers in the Kent region would not have access to the fresh water that Southern Water prides itself on being able to provide.

Ideally you have the desire to be part of a team but also enjoys managing yourown workload.

You will be somebody who is excited by the prospect of being able to reap the rewards and thrive on job satisfaction.

Using your existing knowledge, you will undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis.

Other responsibilities will include providing technical expertise to internal and external contractors, managing projects, and carryingout inspections and tests on electrical equipment and assisting in development of other projects.

Every day is different, you will be working in all conditions carrying out and a range of tasks, to ensure the essential functions for the Wholesale Water directorate can operate to maintain a fresh water supply to our customers.

Although work is generatedto you on a weekly basis, you will be managing your own time, giving you the freedom and flexibility to design your own working week, you will continue to be organised and proactive.


You will undertake as part of the role:

  • Reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis
  • Maintain chemical dosing systems and assist with process issues.
  • To install new plant and equipment as required
  • Provide technical expertise to Internal & External contractors
  • To respond to alarms and fault find to identify issues, fix these or escalate if required
  • To carry out inspection and test on electrical equipment following company procedures.
  • To gain quotations for parts, equipment or from contractors for work to be carried out
  • To provide selfquotations for work to be carried out, so assessment can be made against contractor prices
  • To identify possible future risks and recommend changes in the course of their daytoday work and to raise these for resolution as required
  • Be part of a standby rota for reactive failures (Rota details to be discussed during the interview stage)
  • Work closely with other asset maintenance technicians and process operators, to keep our sites operating well and producing clean wholesome water for our customers

To be successful in this role you must have knowledge or experience of specialty area (Electrical and Mechanical) and heavy industry.

You will need to be flexible and adaptable and willing to work as a team as the main focus will be to complete all work ina timely and safe manner.

Understanding of ISO 9001 procedures and H&S policies are required.
The following qualifications are a necessity for the position

  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in an industrial area
  • ONC or equivalent in speciality area
  • Current Electrical and Mechanical Installation Regulations qualification
  • A relevant Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification (such as City & Guilds).

Please note you must have a full clean driving licence as the role will include visiting sites all over the Kent area.
