One of London's leading private banks, based in the City of London, is seeking to hire a Deputy General Counsel.

The role will support a wide range of legal work across banking and finance, corporate and commercial.

The bank is extremely well known anda household name in the private / merchant bank sector and offers impressive work-life balance and hybrid working for its lawyers.

The bank is going through significant modernisation and change and this unique opportunity has arisen for you to join and becomethe next General Counsel.

The role will be all encompassing and will work with the other lawyers within the team and a variety of internal colleagues on a range of legal matters including but not limited to:

- general banking and finance related legal advice,including advising on consumer financial products for its HNW clients and corporations and advising on broader banking and finance agreements
- advising and negotiating on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters including various acquisitionsand disposals, commercial arrangements and associated contracts
- ensuring regulatory compliance for all legal matters and avoiding associated risks for the bank
- managing any potential litigation should it arise and mitigating such risks

  • You will be a qualified solicitor with at least 7 or 8 years' PQE from a highly regarded law firm or have already been working in house in a banking environment
  • You should have knowledge of both regulatedand unregulated lending, general banking experience and be confident to advise on a range of commercial transactions and provide risk aware legal advice
  • You should be a strong team player, able to work in a small dynamic team. Attention to detail is paramountand excellent technical skills will be required.
