Job summary:


We are looking for a multifaceted and hardworking individual who has strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a dedication to customer service.

Selflessly putting the customer at the heart of everything we do and who values providing a service both individually and as part of a team in the lively Returns/Calibration department, which sits within the busy Supply Chain department.

Tasks will include the processing of assets returned to the Supply Chain department, liaising with external agencies to ensure correct action is taken using all IT/Manual systems available to them.

Will process assets requiring priority/routine calibration. Track assets through all aspects of the process, correct accounting procedures are maintained using all available systems.

Also responsible for ensuring that all regulations appertaining to the receipt, dispatch, issue, handling, preservation, stowage and security of stores are accurately and consistently applied.

Training on all Manual/IT systems will be provided, enabling the applicant to become proficient in their role empowering them to make key independent decisions.

The applicant will also be required to assist with other duties within the department when situations decide.

Job description:


  • Ensuring that all regulations appertaining to the receipt, dispatch, issue, handling, preservation, stowage, and security of stores are properly and consistently applied.
  • Assisting in maintaining the integrity of the SC account by completing all transactions promptly using appropriate IT or manual accounting systems.
  • Provide logístical support to Squadrons on operational duties. Place demands to ensure they are supplied with in date equipment and ensure all relevant paperwork is raised to ensure prompt onward movement. Control return of out of date assets from operations. Process and make ready for onward movement.
  • Follow correct procedures when dealing with calibration failures. Clear relevant dues on Stores Accounting System (MJDI) and place demand to replace calibration failures.
  • Assist with the actioning of 7767's (Returns Note) and U343, for onward transmission to the relevant calibration centres.
  • Action all relevant stock control systems. Ensure accounting action for all AinU's is followed correctly.
  • Account for the return of U/S assets through the reverse supply chain, liaising with the relevant IPTs and inventory managers, ensuring the correct repair route or disposal authorities are adhered to
  • Hasten loan calibration items IAW JSP 886 for Stores Accounting action.
  • When required, assist the SZ3 in other areas of the Returns Department.
  • Assist Building Manager with the maintenance of building security, cleanliness and environmental issues.
  • Comply with all Station and Supply Chain Health & Safety regulations.
  • Liaise with and assist other departments within the Supply Chain, providing cover to control workflows.
  • Carry out any reasonable task within the post holder's grade that contributes to the efficient running of the SC department with the agreement of the post holder.

Person specification:


  • The Skill Zone 2 (SZ2) Storekeeper is responsible for aiding the Skill Zone 3 Storekeeper, Returns, in the efficient accounting and stowage of stock held within the Returns Department.
  • The SZ2 Storekeeper is required to undertake duties commensurate with their grade within the Supply Chain (SC) department as directed by the Logistics Officer, Main Stores Group (LO MSG). They are responsible for ensuring their professional knowledge of storekeeping, stores accounting procedures and principles remain current.
