Mountjoy School caters for pupils aged 2-19 years who may have severe, complex, profound and multiple learning difficulties or autism.

Whilst challenging, our work is immensely rewarding and all staff are supported in their professional development.


We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant, working 4 days per week, term time only plus 4 training days per year.

The working days
must include Monday and Friday, plus 2 other days. Working hours are shown below.

Monday 8.55am to 4.45pm

Tuesday to Thursday 8.55am to 3.45pm

Friday 8.55am to 3.35pm


Full training will be provided by our experienced and skilful team, so if you are new to Special Schools, you will be fully supported in your new role.


It would be an advantage if applicants had experience of supporting young people who present with additional needs and have an understanding of child / learning development.


Applicants must have achieved a qualification in English/literacy and mathematics/numeracy, equivalent to at least Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework.

(e.g. GCSE grade C or 4)


The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert.

The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.


This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
