We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable Pharmacy Store Assistant on a Bank contract.
You will be an essential part of the Operations team, within the warehouse, working for an NHS wholesaler that distributes pharmaceutical products nationwide.
Your role will involve working with others to pick, check and pack a large amount of orders, ensuring they are all processed and completed on a daily basis.
With a strong attention to detail, you will be flexible in moving tasks as required, and working to deadlines. Other tasks include assisting with loading/unloading deliveries and collections and stock checking.

- OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be responsible for storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products according to local SOPs and the terms and conditions of the Wholesale Dealer's Licence.
- Ensure all pharmaceutical stock is kept in the correct environmental conditions and keep records in accordance with department SOPs. Notify a Senior Technician (Procurement or Quality Manager) of any environmental problems immediately (i.e.' fridge or airconditioning failure).
- To assemble picking lists, and to ensure that products are distributed in appropriate containers. This will involve moving of heavy items to the delivery area as appropriate.
- Receive and store pharmaceutical stock to a high level of accuracy to maintain accurate stock levels and assist the Deputy Store Managers in the effective, timely and costefficient supply of medicines
- To demonstrate activities to other staff, including those in training.
- To be an authorised signatory for the receipt of deliveries, according to departmental procedures.
- Disposal of pharmaceutical waste according to local procedures and Health and Safety considerations.
- To carry out regular stock checks according to local procedures.
- To carry out temperature monitoring where necessary.
- To assist in the processing of invoices / delivery notes.
- RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
- To understand the importance of working within SOP's, ensuring that procedures relating to the work area are followed to a high standard, including understanding the importance of department security and safe handling of pharmaceutical products.
- RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL RESOURCES
- To unpack, check, record, and put into stock pharmaceutical products according to SOPs. Completing documentation including dating and signing.
- To check that pharmaceutical products, carry a reasonable expiry date.
- To report and followup, as necessary, any identified discrepancies
- To understand the various storage requirements of medicines received into the department and to ensure that items are placed in the correct location. This may include CDs, Room Temperature items, Refrigerated items, Cytotoxics, Flammable and light sensitive products
- To be aware of the principles of stock rotation and monitoring of stock holding.
- To understand what is meant by damaged stock and how you would deal with such stock.
- To carry out stock checks and expiry date checks as required, and to assist in stock taking when required.
- To participate in the annual stock take.
- To sort and file all paperwork and requisitions on a daily basis and to find and retrieve such documents when necessary.
- To assist with the packing up and labelling of paperwork and requisitions for archiving as required.
- To ensure that procedures relating to good distribution practices (GDP) are followed.
- RESPONSIBILITY FOR LEADING AND MANAGING
- To assist with the training of new staff.
- RESPONSIBILITY FOR INFORMATION RESOURCES
- To use the Polartrack and Despatchbaypro computer systems as required in the course of his/her duties.
- To hold basic keyboard skills
- EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To hold or be working towards the NVQ Level 2 (Pharmacy Services) qualification, or demonstrate equivalent experience thereof.
- To be responsible for his/her own personal development plan and to participate in Performance and Development Planning programmes.
