    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic,motivated and experienced Information Analyst to work in the Infection Preventionand Control Team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

    As a member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team, youwill be expected to work both independently and as part of a larger team, deliveringthe infection prevention and control agenda across the community and acutehealth care sector.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful applicant will work in supporting theInfection Prevention and Control Team in the delivery of the Trusts healthcareassociated infection surveillance and audit programme. Main responsibilitiesinclude: the collection and analysis of data from a range of sources includingclinical areas, such as hospital wards and departments; the input of data intoestablished databases; the analysis and dissemination of results and theproduction of reports.

    The successful applicant will be required to workautonomously (as well as part of a team), be able to manage own workload, havethe ability to work under pressure and to expected deadlines and have a strongattention to detail and accuracy.

    Extensive knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Word andEmail applications and proven experience in the extracting, collating,interpreting and analysing of data is essential. A keen interest in infectionprevention and control/knowledge/experience would be an advantage.

    Job responsibilities

    KeyResponsibilities

  • Tocollect data in a variety of forms and methods from a range of sourcesincluding clinical settings and databases such as patient administrative systems(ECaMIS) and laboratory/pathology systems (ILAB)
  • Undertakeaudits in clinical settings, analyse findings and produce reports
  • Collateand analyse data using appropriate epidemiological measures and statisticaltests, seeking expert advice where appropriate and alert the infectionprevention and control team to increased incidence
  • Producestructured accurate reports, including graphical presentations, in a clearlegible format
  • Disseminateresults to relevant individuals in a timely manner
  • Beresponsible for data collection, input and management of the Surgical SiteInfection Surveillance Service (SSISS) mandatory surveillance of surgical siteinfections for the Trust
  • Tobe responsible for specific targeted surveillance and audit as directed by theInfection Prevention and Control Team
  • Towork autonomously and manage own workload of audit/surveillance whilst workingas part of a team
  • Providesurveillance-based support during outbreaks of infection
  • Presentresults and findings to relevant groups in a format that is understandable andclear
  • Createand maintain databases as required to support new and existing data collectionand analysis
  • Prioritiseand respond to requests for HCAI information and analysis
  • Ensurecompletion of audits/surveillance to meet expected deadlines
  • Contributeto the Director of Infection Prevention and Control annual and other relevantreports
  • Workwith the Infection Prevention and Control Team to ensure infection preventionand control is embedded within the Trust and that it is everybody'sresponsibility
  • Bea role model and raise the profile/importance of infection prevention andcontrol at ward and department level
  • Tobe committed to continuous professional development and undertake furthertraining where necessary, including mandatory training
  • Toundertake other duties, as designated by the Head of Infection Prevention andControl Nurse or as required by the Consultant Microbiologist, that areappropriate to the grade and relevant to the post
