The opportunity

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a talented individual looking to progress their career, to join the Corporate and Commercial Team. The location of this role be based in either our London or Cambridge office. We operate a hybrid working approach, with two days in the office.

Our people are our greatest asset and we encourage and support them to grow as lawyers, take on early responsibility, contribute to business development and work with colleagues in other offices and cross-departmentally. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to play a key role in helping to develop this busy practice area further.

The work will involve acting for a range of people and enterprises who are involved in businesses: owners, entrepreneurs; companies, partnerships, social enterprises, charities and schools. This includes:

• General company and business law advice
• Commercial agreements
• Acquisitions and mergers
• Structuring and Restructurings business operations
• Equity capital raisings
• Shareholders' agreements
• Joint ventures and other collaborations
• Establishing, merging, operating and winding up partnerships: general partnerships, LPs and LLPs
• Internet and e-commerce advice (including in relation to social media).
• Bank and other loan facilities and security
• Project finance
• Commercial intellectual property advice (including IP licensing)

Key responsibilities

General duties include, but are not limited to:

• Effectively manage an individual caseload (with supervision where appropriate).
• Attend to clients of the Firm in the office or elsewhere if needed.
• Work in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment.
• Communicate promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
• Maintain your continuing professional development requirements and take an active interest in furthering your knowledge within the field of law.
• To attend regularly, and be involved in preparation for, Team meetings.
• To attend and be involved in preparation for marketing and business development events and activities.

Requirements

Essential

• Experienced Solicitor (2 PQE minimum) who has previous experience in corporate, financial, banking or commercial law.
• Interest in business development.
• Strong drafting, file management and client relationship building skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients (both oral and written communication).
• Possess strong organisation skills, technologically proficient and capable of working on their own and within a team.

Desirable

• Proven track record in marketing and business development
• A following, though desirable is not essential
