About the role


As a Project Manager you will manage all aspects of the construction, installation & commissioning of new electricity contestable connections up to and including 33kV.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for delivering these contestable connections on time and within budget.

You will be responsible for liaising with and coordinating technical staff, DNO's, iDNO's, and sub-contractors to meet theproject programme and the client's specifications.

You will monitor and forecast project performance and costs, and ultimately control the overall project to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.

Location - Leeds, North East of M25 so Harlow, Cambridge and South East M25 Farnham and Reading area

Key responsibilities

PMs are responsible for delivering ALL aspects of the project; on time, on budget, and to client's expectations.

There is support in place so that elements such as design, Section 50's, civils, etc are undertaken by other internal or external parties however,the ultimate responsibility lies with the PM to proactively manage ALL aspects of the project through to completion.

Manage a portfolio of projects and undertake appropriate internal and external reporting to ensure all relevant parties are kept up to date on progress
Work with the Business Development and Design teams to ensure designs fully meet client requirements.
Engage with clients to secure feedback on draft designs to ensure timely submission for approval.

Liaise with and coordinate all parties to ensure timely planning and delivery of the project - and respond to client enquiries in a timely and courteous manner.

Plan programmes of work through engagement with key client contacts and determine agreed milestones, dates, and deliverables - and ensure these are updated throughout project changes to remain current

Establish and maintain financial control of projects (including variations) throughout delivery - and keep accurate records of progress against budget.

Procure required labour, with in defined budgets, to deliver the project (including relevant third party requirements such as civils, traffic management, and commissioning)

Prepare relevant, detailed work instructions for all elements of installation works, and ensure that teams (whether internal or external) are fully briefed on expectations and timescales.

Procure and budget for the materials and equipment required to deliver the project installation
Carry out audits as required on both site activities and third party suppliers - and ensure any non-conformances are raised, recorded, and mitigated
Ensure all works in the Public Highway are carried out in liaison with the local authority, and comply with NRSWA and HAUC Specifications
Liaise with other staff and clients to ensure that all targets and key milestones are met - and ensure any deviations are raised and addressed with all parties

Ensure all works are carried out to DNO and IDNO specifications, to ensure audits are successfully passed and final connections take place.

Undertake final quality audits of all installation works
Ensure all installation documentation is completed accurately and correctly by the installation teams and filed into contract folders for submission to the DNO/IDNO as required

Ensure all activities undertaken by yourself, and the installation teams meet the correct company procedures, policies, and documentation

Upselling on existing sites - identifying what additional works could we undertake for a client/developer and helping to secure these opportunities.

Continuously monitor and forecast project performance and costs, and ultimately control the overall project to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.

Work with the wider Rock team to recommend continuous improvements in quality and process
Promote and demonstrate a culture of Health, Safety & Quality at all time as well as manage project related Health & Safety
Keep up to date on current legislation & regulations
Secure client feedback/completion of satisfaction questionnaires
Photographs of the installation throughout project duration for use in future case studies

Job Holder Specification

Essential Education / Certification

HNC in electrical related discipline (or equivalent)
SSSTS or SMSTS Qualification (or equivalent)
CSCS Qualification (or equivalent)
Manual Handling certificate
Emergency First Aid at Work certificate
IOSH Certificate in managing Health and Safety (or equivalent)
ECS Qualification (or equivalent)
Driver's Licence
Desirable Education / Certification

Certificate of competency for DNO's, Electrician or Electrical Fitter
DNO Authorisations for access
DNO Authorisations for Switching
NRSWA Supervisor's qualification
SAP Qualified
Essential Skills

Focused and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent organisational skills and time management skills with a strong ability to forward plan
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
Effective decision maker with the ability to work under pressure
Have an in-depth knowledge of HV/LV cable laying, switchgear installation, cable jointing and commissioning
Ability to coordinate site activities and ensure the safety of all involved
Strong understanding of commercial terms and conditions and the impact it will have on project delivery
Computer literate (particularly with Microsoft Project)
