    Distribution Officer to work within Cambridge. This role involve working 37.5 hours on a rota basis covering shift patterns.
Shift 1- 08:00 to 16:00 - Monday to Friday
Shift 2- 10:00 to 18:00 - Monday to Friday
Shift - 07:00 to 11:00 - Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holidays

To be paid at an hourly rate of £10.42 per hour.


Key aspects of the position include:

  • Responsible for checking vehicles for defects and completing daily vehicle checklist prior to driving any vehicle in accordance with transport and NHS guidelines. This includes completing defect log and notifying the Team Leader or Supervisor when any faults develop or, indeed, incidents occur involving the vehicle.
  • Responsible for maintaining the fuelling and cleanliness of the vehicles both exterior and interior in line with departmental protocol and other relevant policies i.e. infection control policies.
  • Responsible for all Procurement and Supply Chain movements including but not limited to furniture, equipment, medical goods that require distribution on and around campus grounds via vehicle.
  • Undertake a range of deliveries including but not limited to furniture, equipment, medical goods around campus with the use of electric motorised tugs and other powered and nonpowered moving equipment.
  • Required to take part in duties that require moderate to heavy manual handling activities, including the pushing and pulling of heavy trollies and cages through the day.
  • Required to load and unload, cages, trollies within Goods-In warehouse and the delivery destination (clinical environments).
  • Required to deliver goods to Intensive Care and other sensitive areas of the campus. These environments can be distressing.
  • Required to organise and predetermined "zones" of the Goods-In warehouse prior to onward delivery of materials.
  • Required to prioritise daily workload (When supervisor is unavailable or not on shift).
  • Required to work as part of the team, though the distribution of materials may be done lone working (where appropriate).
  • Required to provide a linen collection and delivery service to all clinical areas (linen sealed trolleys). Linen delivery is required weekdays as well as Saturday, Sunday and Bank holidays.
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the area of work.
  • Transport of goods as required of an ad hoc nature on request over and above routine duties.
  • Use of electronic PDA to scan barcode labels as part of Tracking system, to ensure materials are delivered to correct destinations.
  • To ensure that visitors of all kinds to Goods In are courteously received and assisted in accordance with current customer services practice.'
  • To participate in implementing contingency plans for internal/external emergencies, including Missing Patient, Major Incident, fire/explosion/escape of gas/petrochemicals/biological or bacteriological hazards/bomb threats/major accidents/flood/lightning strikes or windstorm.
  • To be vigilant and ensure that NHS property is not removed from the premises without lawful authority and ensure that written authority is produced to clarify removal, and to work with the security team in dealing with patient/visitor related incidents.

To be a successful you will need:


Skills:


  • Able to communicate effectively

  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Full UK Manual Driving License
  • Must be computer literate
  • A welldeveloped attention to detail

Experience:


  • General work experience dealing with people in a demand led environment
  • Experience of customer service related or similar environments
  • Experience with use of computers and/or handheld electronic devices (mobiles phones, PDA's or similar)
