Commercial Credit Underwriter (Secured Lending) - Commercial Banking

Location - home based with 1 day per week in Birmingham

About the Role
Our client is a fully independent bank who offer an alternative ethos centred around positive social impact.

Due to continued growth they have a brand-new role for a
Commercial Credit Underwriter (Secured Lending)with experience of lending in a Commercial Banking environment.

This is an interesting role, reporting to the Head of Credit Underwriting, & taking responsibility for the assessment, authorisation and monitoring of lending within delegated discretions and within agreed policies, procedures and discretionary limits

As the
Commercial Credit Underwriter (Secured Lending) your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Assess, authorise and monitor lending within delegated discretions, which can be up to a maximum £2m solely.
  • Assess and monitor lending propositions outside own lending discretion, typically with deal sizes up to a maximum £6.0m, and present recommendations to senior colleagues
  • Ensure SLA standards are achieved and that an effective and efficient service is provided to Relationship Managers.
  • Contribute to the regular review of Credit Policies, Procedures and Service Level Agreements.
  • Review updating reports and authorise waiver requests submitted by the Lending Administration Team.
  • Provide guidance on lending related issues to Relationship Managers and assist in their lending training
  • Ensure departmental administration, files, records and diary systems are managed effectively and kept up to date.

About You

Essential Skills and Competencies of theCommercial Credit Underwriter (Secured Lending) role**:

  • Previously held a lending discretion in real estate, general trading or similar
  • Experience of manually underwriting deals in the Commercial space
