    Senior Actuarial Manager

    At the heart of our business is Asta Managing Agency, the leading third-party managing agent at Lloyd's.

    Main purpose of job:

    • To accurately deliver all allocated deliverables, across multiple syndicates, including robust and well documented capital models; efficient quarterly reserving exercises; and allocated project work.
    • Build strong working relationships with allocated Syndicates
    • Propose enhancements and changes to both technical actuarial approaches and department processes to the (Deputy) Chief Actuary. Once approved implement accurately and efficiently.
    • Maintain an awareness of budgets and comparative time spent to ensure projects run to budget or are escalated early.
    • Develop and mentor more junior members of the actuarial team

    Key tasks:

    • Deliver syndicate capital models which are built and parameterised appropriately.
    • Specify and deliver an appropriate validation process on allocated syndicate capital models
    • Review Solvency II Technical Provisions and Standard Formulas for allocated syndicates ready for submission (after (Deputy)CA sign-off).
    • Provide technical oversight to Actuarial project work as required
    • Interact with Syndicates and other Asta departments to deliver wider syndicate returns
    • (e.g. Finance, UW Management)
    • Develop an understanding of the risks and controls relevant to the actuarial function, operate within the prescribed procedures and guidelines and report / discuss issues with my line manager.

    • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to all issues affecting the department.
    • Good organisational skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple deadlines
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across the business
    • Good written and verbal communication skills

    Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required

    • 5+ years of post qualification experience
    • Qualified Actuary
    • Experience in actuarial capital modelling and reserving
    • Excellent IT skills
