Administration Assistant - Part-time (Human Resources & Payroll Department)


About us:

Nestled in one of the most beautiful corners of South Lakes, Thor Atkinson Steel Fabrications LTD. are a steel fabrication company based in Ulverston.

Our services include the design engineering, fabrication, supply and installation of wide variety of structural steelwork, plant and buildings as well as bespoke fabrication projects.


Due to the growth of the company, we are currently seeking an Administration Assistant to provide general administration support to our Human Resources and Payroll Team.

This is a part time role, working 24 hours per week, however we can be flexible with the hours. You will be working at our head office, in Ulverston, Cumbria.

This role will suit an individual who enjoys a variety and where no two days are the same.


Duties include:


  • Lead on probation process
  • Arrange works on rental properties, liaising with finance in relation to EPC and gas safety certification
  • Lead on time and attendance, checking timesheets and managing queries on daily/ weekly basis
  • Lead on managing the onboarding process for new employees
  • Support employee lifecycle
  • To learn and provide resilience for the payroll function
In addition, there will be a variety of other general administration activities and provision of support to the team.


Requirement for success:


  • Have experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook packages
  • Be well organised and be able to work under pressure and prioritise workload
  • Can problem solve independently and with confidence
  • Possess good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Previous experience in a human resources or payroll environment is desirable, but not essential as full training can be given in each area
