Purpose


The Regional H&S Advisor will support the delivery of the business H&S requirements in Scotland and BGEN Ltd H&S strategy to provide targeted and pro-active H&S support.

Managing a team of up to 5 Safety Advisors.


The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desired)
  • Qualified to or working towards CMIOSH

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

  • Experience of development and delivery of HSE training
  • Additional relevant skills and qualifications in any technical area
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (oil & gas, pharma, process, nuclear etc)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the project management teams in the implementation of BGEN and Project H&S requirements and objectives
  • Support and advise Project delivery teams on planning and implementation of the BGEN H&S Management system, strategy and objectives
  • Provide H&S support and advice to the projects to ensure a structured risk based approach
  • Conduct site audits and inspections and ensure these are also undertaken by the project management team and supervision
  • Liaise with customer H&S representatives and attend meetings/forums as required
  • Ensure, assist and support the investigation of accidents, incidents and high risk near miss events to determine route causes and preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence
  • Facilitate H&S specific training and awareness programmes
  • Assist and/or lead (where required) external H&S audits
  • Provide input to the development of the following
  • Monthly Exec Board and BU reports
  • H&S Management Systems and Processes
  • External award programmes e.g RoSPA, ECIA etc

Skills/Knowledge

Essential Skills

  • In depth knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of insurance legislation and practice.
  • Familiarity with QA systems and compliance.

Desirable Skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, negotiating and influencing skills to enable you to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with clients and specialist advisors.

Special Features

  • Attend any project and or construction meetings where H&S input may required

Qualifications

  • You will hold a current NEBOSH general certificate as a minimum
  • You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of providing an excellent Health and Safety service for an organisation operating within one or more of the following industries; chemical, nuclear, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and utilities.
  • You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, professional and personal presentation skills when liaising with Directors, senior managers, clients, external agencies employees and subcontractors.
