**A young woman in the Alnwick area is looking for a committed enabler to provide support to access the local community and remain independent at home. The woman has a diagnosis of learning disabilities including autism and would prefer somebody with experience of supporting others with a similar diagnosis. She has recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and is managing this through diet and exercise.
The young woman has a good sense of humour is sociable with people she has formed a relationship with and enjoys:

  • Theatre
  • Shopping and clothes shopping
  • Meals out
  • Family History
  • Fishing and shooting
  • Foraging, growing and catching her own food
  • Socialising with friends
  • Gardening visiting the local community allotment
  • Having holidays in the sun

The preferred enabler will be:

  • A driver with access to their own vehicle (mileage will be paid)
  • Business Insurance is required.
  • Friendly
  • Outgoing
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • Be reliable
  • Willing to engage in the clients' interests

Main duties will include:

  • Shopping and Meal preparation
  • Promoting independence with household tasks
  • Accessing social activities such as community allotment with the client
  • Engaging in appropriate social activities outside of the client's home such as shopping, cinema trips, meals out.
  • Expenses will be paid in agreement with the employer._
  • Location: Alnwick

Rates of Pay:
£10.82 per hour

Hours of work:

  • 14 hours per week to be used preferably weekends and evenings although flexibility/availability of working patterns will be discussed at interview
  • You will receive 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata per year as part of your employment

Personal specification:

  • Calm, patient and understanding, with a strong focus on consistency and clear guidelines.

  • Respect confidentiality

Training:

Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend.

This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
