    Head of Clinical Category will work within a fast paced team working on complex tenders and leading a team to deliver category plans and savings. It is an exciting opportunity for a highly literate and public procurement-competent individual to support the delivery of a significant programme of change within the Clinical Category.

    You will relish the opportunity to assist in the delivery of Frimley Health's strategic category management programme, be responsible for the delivery of a specific strategic sourcing programme and ambitious cost improvement programme at our 3 main hospital sites.

    Please note this post will be based at Archipelago Offices in Frimley however, there will be requirements to work from other sites as needed (Wexham or Heatherwood).

    The role requires weekly on site attendance to the office and a mix of hybrid working is available.

    Main duties of the job

    You will be responsible for managing a team of category managers and will be required to run and support large procurement projects and clinical trials in conjunction with our clinical and non-clinical departments. You will work to identify and manage procurements that deliver savings whilst ensuring a high level of patient care. You'll also use your up-to-date knowledge to provide day to day information and advice on procurement processes, protocols and policy to key end users within the Trust as well as providing an invaluable contribution to the project team meetings on an on-going basis.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    Some of the main job responsibilities are:

    • Daily management of clinical category team
    • Delivery of strategic procurement initiatives
    • Efficient and effective delivery of procurement services
    • Maximise value for money opportunities through process improvement and total cost of ownership modelling
    • Develop, manage and report on an agreed work and savings plans
    • Comply with all relevant procurement legislation
    • Act as the subject matter expert within category, leading by example
    • Solve complex problems

    Person specification Qualifications

    • Educated to Degree level
    • Member of CIPS
    • Relevant CPD in the last 24 months
    • Completed Full MCIPS
    • CIPS level 4 or 5 Diploma

    Experience

    • Significant category management experience in Clinical categories
    • 3 years experience direct line management
    • Demonstrable experience of running high value and complex public sector procurement processes
    • Significant experience working with senior staff and clinicians
    • Evidence of savings and efficiencies achieved
    • Knowledge of NHS T&C's
    • Knowledge of contract law
    • Experience of applying principles of change management

    Skills & Knowledge

    • Evidence of effective management of multiple projects
    • Ability to effectively communicate- face to face, presentations and documented communications
    • Evidence of ability to manage own time and self motivate
    • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and issues
    • Evidence of problem management and resolution
