Role summary Job summary:

The main part of the role is to support the Clinical Neuropsychologists and Clinical Psychologists in the department by administering and scoring neuropsychological tests.

There may be opportunities to do some 1:1 work with individual patients with various neurological conditions under the supervision of a Clinical Neuropsychologist (e.g. relaxation sessions or going through basic anxiety management or memory strategies).

The department has strong links with the university and is currently involved in research projects in:
epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and other chronic neurological conditions.


Assistants may have the opportunity to be involved in the departmental projects and research within the department and further develop their research and audit skills.

Key responsibilities To administer and score neuropsychological tests with patients referred to Neuropsychology under the close supervision of a Clinical Neuropsychologist.

To organize their own diary including day-to-day tasks around the testing timetable. To monitor and order replacement test forms and psychological tests used in the department.

Occasionally work with individual patients, under close supervision, on memory strategies, rehabilitation techniques, anxiety management work. On occasion conduct literature searches and undertake service related projects and audits under close supervision. When required, assist in research and service evaluations under close supervision. May be required to enter data into a database and produce results.

To maintain materials required for teaching, research and clinical purposes.
