Bristol Salary: 42,618 This role is pivotal to the delivery of a high-quality Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) service aimed at identifying asymptomatic individuals for early diagnosis of lung cancer and other lung diseases.
The Lung Cancer Screening Programme's overarching goal is early cancer detection to save lives.Implemented nationwide in areas with high disease prevalence, the TLHC focuses on recognizing early-stage lung cancer and providing curative treatment.
As the Responsible Assessor (RA), you will play a crucial role in facilitating the clinical flow of TLHC lung screening participants with abnormal CT scan findings.
Working closely with TLHC nurses, local medical and nursing teams, you'll coordinate with primary and secondary care.Operating under the supervision of the Clinical Director, you will ensure the successful implementation of the screening program, managing actionable TLHC Low dose CT findings and coordinating patients on the screening pathway.
Your responsibilities extend to overseeing multiple Screening Review Meetings (SRMs), providing clinical leadership for the expansion of lung cancer screening in West London, and ensuring the safety and operational aspects of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Delivery:
Drive the smooth operation of TLHC services for early detection of lung cancer and lung diseases.
Facilitate the clinical flow for participants with abnormal CT scan findings, ensuring optimal adherence to the national lung cancer pathway
Coordination and Communication:
Act as a liaison between TLHC teams, medical professionals, and screening participants. Ensure effective communication and coordination in SRM meetings and onward care management.
Clinical Leadership:
Lead the development of standards, care protocols, and policies for TLHC.
Provide expert nursing advice, act as a role model, and empower staff for continuous improvement
Management and Oversight:
Manage SRM coordination, agendas, and treatment plans. Oversee data collection, audits, and adherence to national protocols. Utilize IT skills for data entry, communication, and reporting purposes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Registered Nurse (Band 7 or experienced Band 6) with a degree in respiratory and oncology nursing (or equivalent). Effective leadership, management, and communication skills. In-depth knowledge of TLHC screening programs. Experience in clinical teaching, change management, and working across community and acute care settings.
