Maintenance/Handyperson Position

Full time, 5 days over a 7-day period, and on call every other weekend.

£12.50 per hour

We are looking for a friendly, reliable maintenance/handyperson with good building maintenance skills and good people skills. As a maintenance/Handyperson working across our two Nursing Homes every day will be different, so you can expect to undertake work that's as varied as it is rewarding.

Job Overview:

• To provide maintenance services in accordance with current best practices, according to policy and procedures, legislative requirements and relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager.
• To action both planned and reactive maintenance issues and prioritise in terms of urgency,

Responsibilities and Duties:

• The Maintenance/Handyperson's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Implement actions to meet and maintain maintenance standards
• Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise
• Ensure the service users' rights are protected
• Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service

Specific requirements for Qualifications:

• Desirable - Vocational qualification/HNC/City and Guilds in Maintenance or Building Services

Specific requirements for Skills:

• Ensure accurate, legible maintenance audits are completed and maintained
• Good English – Written and verbal
• Attend Heads of Department meetings to represent Maintenance
• Plumbing, joinery, plastering skills
• Painting and decorating skills
• Health and safety knowledge pertaining to building maintenance

Essential requirements:

• Full UK Driving Licence
• Previous experience of working in a similar environment
• Previous experience of working in a maintenance role
• Previous experience of working in the building trade
