In fact, our Transport team currently repair and maintain a fleet of over vehicles From company cars to water tankers, we ensure that Severn Trent can safely transport equipment, valuable resources and our teams around safely and efficiently from A to B, day in day out.
We're looking for a Mobile Vehicle Technician with plant experience to join our busy servicing team, working Monday – Friday, based in Derby out of our Raynesway site. You'll be working mobile for most of the time with the use of our fully equipped company van during work hours .
Not only will we give you more flexibility compared to other companies, we'll also continuously help you develop your career by providing you with training courses and relevant qualifications to improve your skills and knowledge. This is a great opportunity for a Technician looking for a varied role, where you'll use your mechanical knowledge to find faults, maintain service levels, and repair vehicles in the broad and varied Severn Trent Water Fleet of over , vehicles (this can include cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles and mobile plant). Don't worry if you don't have the experience or qualifications to work on them all just yet, we will support you in your training and development to get you there should this be required in the role.

We believe it's essential that we take bold steps to reduce our impact on the environment, so one of our Triple Pledge commitments is that by we will have % electric vehicles, availability of vehicles permitting. Any new cars or small vans we buy from now on will be electric, and we expect suitable larger vans to become available in the next few years. Based on today's outlook, electric HGV and tanker options may not be available by , so we are working with electric vehicle suppliers to try and speed up this process, and we are exploring other low-carbon options such as hydrogen and biogas.
Our other commitments are to have net zero carbon emissions across the business and % of our power to come from renewable sources by . It's an exciting time to join us on this journey as we reduce our carbon footprint to help combat climate change.
You'll be typically working a hour week, Monday to Friday (hours ranging between – and while there may be overtime required, this is optional and we will compensate you for your extra time
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You'll have experience of Fleet Maintenance and have completed a recognised Apprenticeship with City & Guilds qualifications or NVQ equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level and above) and have Plant experience. Driving will be part of the role so a full manual driving licence is required. Any HGV experience or qualifications would be a bonus but isn't essential.
