Description
To make a significant contribution to teaching and learning, progress and attainment in Business, General Further Education.


Daily coordination of the delivery of the Business curriculum in line with the College's overall strategy, whilst contributing towards the development of new and existing provision, improving the effectiveness of resources, developing effective team and industry relationships as well as achieving Further Education (FE) outcomes.


Bishop Burton College includes the Riseholme College campus and the postholder may be required to carry out duties at both campuses.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • To assure the quality of the student learning experience through effective delivery of formal scheduled teaching and tutorials paying due regard to student progression towards successful completion across the Business provision, motivating all students to achieve their potential no matter what their starting point.
  • To undertake the role of Course Manager as appropriate, working effectively within teams responsible for devising, reviewing and maintaining effective management of learning programmes.
  • To provide regular assessment, student progress reporting, marking of examinations and management and supervision of student educational visit programmes.
  • To record in an accurate and timely manner data and information, including registers, withdrawals, transfers, assessments, examination results and student progress.
  • Manage and maintain student morale and discipline, working closely with college managers to assure an appropriate learning environment.
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance processes in college, including Annual Course Monitoring and Self
- assessment.

  • Take an active role in college marketing activities including providing advice and guidance to students, and participate in promotional events.
  • To develop existing and initiate new curriculum development with college managers/course teams.
  • To embrace new learning technologies and implement the same within his/her own teaching.
  • In conjunction with college managers set and monitor targets in relation to recruitment, enrolment, retention, achievement, attendance and other teaching and learning outcomes. Ensure appropriate monitoring arrangements are in place for tracking progress of students.

  • Ensure course and other curriculum quality files are maintained to include schemes/records of work, course reviews, action plans and tracking documents.
  • Establish effective contact with students, employers, validating bodies, external verifiers/examiners.
  • Contribute to a sensitive and supportive approach to equality and diversity.
  • To perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
  • Take part in all staff College events such as Lambing Sunday and Town & County Day.
Work with staff to develop employer portfolio and secure meaningful work placement opportunities for students under your provision


Qualifications and Training
Related degree or equivalent qualification - Essential

English and Maths at Level - Essential

Level 5 or above teaching qualifications - Desirable


Experience
A minimum of 1 years teaching and/or training experience - Essential

A minimum of 1 year industry experience working within the business sector - Essential

Evidence of continuous professional development - Desirable


Skills and Special Knowledge
Up to date knowledge of the Business Sector - Essential

Ability to evaluate own teaching and learning - Essential

Awareness of the T-Level agenda
