    Description

    The Risk Data Management team is a newly-created part of the Risk Management Department. Jefferies is developing its market data and trade data management standards and procedures including data quality controls and monitoring processes for risk and capital model frameworks to meet heightened regulatory scrutiny by aligning with leading industry practices and regulatory expectations.

    Position

    The successful candidate will be part of the Risk Management Data team focusing on products in the Equities division.

    Primary responsibilities

    The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that Risk Management's Data Strategy as it relates to Equities delivers accurate, timely and complete data (inputs, controls and governance) to both support and ensure that management decision making and external regulatory reporting is based on data with sufficient integrity.
  • Assessing the Risk Management department's Equities data requirements, including a gap analysis and recommending enhancements to its Target Operating Model for data
  • Updating/creating documentation including target state Equities Risk data controls in policies, standards, procedures and process flows; and data flows for all products, entities, reporting and risk measures determined to be in scope
  • Drafting and implementing data management standards for Equities Market Data, Reference Data and Trade Data as they relate to Risk Management, based on observed industry practices including governance structure, issue management and escalation protocols, roles and responsibilities, data quality, KPIs and reporting metrics
  • Socializing these Standards with identified key stakeholders, and embedding them within the wider Risk Management Framework
  • Defining and maintaining a Data Glossary and Data Dictionary with IT and upstream data suppliers
  • Maintaining an inventory of Equities data use and data quality controls, performing control gap assessment and recommend control enhancements
  • The design, implementation and ongoing monitoring of Equities Risk Management data controls
  • Providing governance, transparency and prioritization of all Equities Data Quality Issues and their resolution
  • EOD, time series and intraday sourcing for market, trade and reference Equities data
  • Working with our Technology partners to understand the impact of Risk Management architecture enhancements as they relate to Equities data; designing, implementing and testing solutions
  • Contributing to the automation of data feeds. This will include working with Technology to write up technical specs for IT automation, and coding for improving the efficiency and speed of production
  • Ensuring Equities New Business Initiatives consider the implications on Risk Management data
  • Supporting the Equities Risk Analytics team in developing and maintaining methodologies for product- or model-specific data usage.
  • Working with vendors and internal Corporate and Front Office stakeholders to optimize data flows to Risk Management
  • Requirements

    The following skills and experience are required for this role:

  • Educated to degree level;
  • At least years of experience in the financial services industry, including working in a similar role;
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks;
  • Exposure to BCBCS or similar Reg industry wide deliverables;
  • Developed, maintained and/or executed one or several of the following components:.
  • Analytical and numerate, comfortable managing financial data and MI, with strong excel / coding skills (Python / VBA preferred);
  • Data Governance, Market Data, Data Quality Management experience
  • Knowledge of best industry practices and regulatory guidelines / benchmarks related to data governance;
  • Experience with cloud-based Risk architecture is desirable;
  • Good knowledge of investment banking business models, of capital market products, and of Equities financial products including cash and derivatives;
  • Good written and oral communication / presentation skills;
  • A team player, comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment;
  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibility for project deliverables.
