    Job introduction:The SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Statutory Service have recently carried out a service redesign to add additional capacity to the SEN Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly efficient SEN Quality Assurance Officer to support the delivery of the EHC Planning Quality Assurance Framework for the SEN Statutory Service and be responsible for developing and maintaining the SEND Local Offer website so that it is informative and accessible for families.


You will work as part of the SEN team to improve the Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan process and ensure
families are at the
centre of everything we do.

You will also work closely with key partners and promote the work of the Service to parents/carers, service users and the wider public.

Therefore, you will need to have demonstratable experience in working in a relevant environment (education, health or care) where you have carried out
quality assurance activities.

You will need comprehensive knowledge of the
SEND regulations that govern the Local Authority's delivery of statutory services alongside
excellent and highly effective oral and written skills to
communicate service responses to key local and national initiatives.

About the role:


Essentially you will need:

  • Relevant experience of working within the local authority setting within a legal framework and proven ability to comply with systems and/or statutory processes
  • Good knowledge of legislation relating to special educational needs e.g. SEN Code of Practice
  • Experience of writing accessibly and to understand complex information under particular timescales. You will need to prioritise and understand the specific needs of the service and our families.
  • Experience of engaging children and young people, parents and carers in projects and multiagency working to achieve outcomes. Customer services is a priority for our area.
  • Excellent IT skills and communication skills via various platforms
What the SEN Team can offer you as a SEN Quality Assurance Officer:

  • 23 days leave a year, rising to 27 days after 5 years' service

Additional information:

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
