OVERVIEW
Our client is the UK's largest provider of Clerk of Works services.

Based within their Head Office in South Yorkshire, they require a commercially minded and organised individual to manage the allocation of work assignments to their team of inspectors onnumerous projects in locations throughout England, Wales, and Scotland.

You will be responsible for managing a small head office team and assist with enquiries from clients and inspectors, so you will be expected to have construction related knowledge andexperience.

The main responsibility of the team is to ensure that secured workload is resourced by either existing inspectors or proactively recruiting suitably qualified individuals.

The team engages with clients to co-ordinate the extension of contract termsand provision of holiday cover, as well as monitoring the inspection reports and maintaining their high level of service.

There will be limited travel to visit clients, assist with inductions for new inspectors and visit sites to ensure the company processesand procedures are working at their optimum and build client relationships.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analysing internal processes, and creating strategies for service delivery optimisation
  • Recommending methods of improvement and seeing that actions are implemented on time for service delivery upgrades
  • Managing and continuously improving documentation provided to and produced by the onsite staff (induction, reporting, contracts etc)
  • Ensuring technical data of reports is to a high standard
  • Support the management of the onsite staff workload
  • Overseeing the logístical requirements of a project and ensuring we meet contractual conditions of performance
  • Ensure appropriate rates agreed with onsite staff
  • Ensuring projects are audited at regular intervals checking that the Clerk of Works do the hours they are contracted to, jobs are carried out to fee budget, extensions are agreed where required, we are in receipt of reports and client satisfaction
  • Monitor Reports Received Schedule and chase up any nonsubmissions
  • Building strong relationships with teams and stakeholders to enable effective communication between all parties
  • Taking ownership of any project related customer complaints, leading and coordinating resolution between all parties
  • Taking accountability for service delivery performance, meeting customer expectations, and driving future demand
  • Managing the recruitment process across Hickton Quality Control to ensure the workforce suits workload levels
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
  • Sourcing new Clerk of Works and interviewing them (with technical support)
  • Continuously improve the Recruitment Plan in line with the Business Plan and workload
  • Ensuring inductions and audits are carried out for new starters
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts (HR support)
  • Assess performance of Clerk of Works and carry out appraisals
  • Attending interviews for projects, precontract meetings and follow up meetings onsite
  • Assist Bid team with tender documentation and rates
  • Assist telephone sales and marketing with contacts made onsite with clients,consultants,and contractors
  • Working closely and proactively with the commercial manager facilitating a smooth and robust handover of awarded work
  • Providing accurate and regular reports to the management on performance of the Resource Team and contribution to monthly KPI's
  • Line Management to Resource team
  • Setting targets, objectives and responsibilities for all supervised staff
  • Identifying and organising any training needs for members of the team
  • Attend and contribute to management meetings
