Clinical Support Worker

University Hospital Wishaw - Theatres

37.5 hours per week - Permanent


As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse/Operating Department practitioner (ODP) and will regularly work unsupervised but with the wider theatre team available for reference at all times.


The post holder will also carry out assigned duties involving direct and indirect patient care within the theatre environments and will be required to perform physical/technical/emotional aspects of patient care in an efficient, effective and responsible manner with accuracy in a busy environment.

Applicants must have an SVQ III in peri-operative care or working towards or equivalent -peri operative experience

Or SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.


Or postholders with no previous clinical healthcare experience will be treated in accordance with Annex U Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees.


Initial induction period of up to 3 months, followed by a period of training and consolidation to achieve full competency across a range of specialties within 12 months following induction.


You must have ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team and have effective written and verbal communication skills along with ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment and be able to work unsupervised.


You must actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development and have a working knowledge of basic information technology.
