About the Role:


The main duties of the role include:

  • maintaining a professional and effective secretarial service to GPs;
- audio typing from the digital dictation system, prioritising all red flag tasks and letters within 48 hours;
- delivering routine work within a week of it being requested;
- administering GP patient referrals through the 'e.referral' system and collating data for reporting purposes;
- providing administrative services for AITS, cataract, LARCS, minor surgery services;
- assuming the role of link-person for palliative patients, so that they have a direct contact;
- providing telephone and face-to-face access for patients to discuss referrals;
- dealing with all information sensitively and in accordance with confidentiality guidelines;
- compiling agendas, taking minutes and put meeting dates on the practice calendar.

- experience of dealing with customers;
- ability to work at a continuously high pace under pressure, delivering high levels of accuracy;
- good written and verbal communication skills;
- good typing skills;

  • GCSE maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent;
- administration qualification at NVQ 4 (desirable);
- dealing with customers in a calm and sympathetic manner;
- excellent time management.
