CAD-IT UK Ltd are seeking a junior Technical Author to join a friendly team working on technical documentation projects for global vehicle manufacturers.

You will join a business who deliver technical publications for a range of leading automotive, aerospace, rail, industrial, construction and agricultural manufacturing customers.


If you are a graduate, trainee or apprentice technician, and/or an individual who has vehicle workshop experience, or you are simply familiar with the struggle of repairs to your own vehicle, in the rain and on your own driveway, that is ideal for us.


Person Specification:

The person is more valuable than the experience, the degree or the training._

  • We want those who are friendly, professional, take direction well but also use initiative, are flexible and can work independently.
  • You need to be proficient with typical software like MS Office software and confident enough to be trained on new softwareand systems, like CAD model manipulation.
  • Any knowledge of the following that you bring with you is a bonus: vehicle mechanics, engineering, auto electrical, diagnostics, automotive body repair, technical documentation.
  • Being pragmatic and imaginative and with the ability to think laterally in solving problems and delivering solutions is essential.

Role Details:


The role may be involved with many different types of project, such as: repair / workshop manuals, electrical guides, service bulletins, training information, parts manuals, diagnostic solutions and more.

Each broadly shares the same pattern of daily tasks:


  • Establish the requirement(s) and assess what is needed.
  • Liaise with others to capture all technical data, illustrations, CAD and other information, then interrogate it.
  • Track your progress on tasks and report out to the project manager(s).
  • Complete all tasks to a high standard, ensure they are peer reviewed then submit on time.
