This role will work directly with the Head of Digital Service Delivery and other teams to provide the best outcomes for our patients.


You will be responsible for a team of Application Managers, Systems Specialists, and will work closely with other teams to ensure the services we deliver are high quality, fit for purpose, and optimised for best performance.


You will be responsible for helping develop the strategic direction of the Applications team and driving forward the use of (ITSM) methodology such as Incident, Problem and Change Management within this area.

Develop a culture that puts the patient at the heart of what we do. Ensure that continual service improvement mechanisms are in place so that we are learning and incrementally developing excellent services.


Responsible for leading a dynamic team of Application Managers from the front, ensuring customer focus is at the heart of everything they do.


Create, implement, and maintain a continuous improvement plan for Application Management and establish and embed mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all Application Management activities.


Lead, manage and action the resolution of incidents, problems, and requests within the Applications Team in an efficient and professional manner, whilst conforming to Trust and departmental standards, service agreements, polices, procedures and working practices, seeking further advice and information within Digital Services, when necessary.

The Christie Digital team is passionate about improving outcomes for our patients by digitally enabling clinical cancer services.

Delivery of our digital services are the mechanism for that improvement, making this role an exciting opportunity to really make a difference.

The Christie digital ambition over the next 5 years will:

  • Provide better use of digital solutions to improve the experience for both the staff and the patient experience.
  • Digital technologies to enhance the new outpatients' service and creating a seamless patient flow through the hospital from arrival to the clinic.
  • Provide an openEHR platform that supports the development of worldrenowned research and innovation.
  • Expand our digital services to support staff to deliver the high standards of care across a wider networked care model.
  • Delivery of a richer data model to capture the whole health record, to ensure better decisionmaking, efficient services and improve care across the Greater Manchester area.
  • Leverage the investment in a locally developed EHR based on openEHR standard


As a Trust we want to stay at the forefront of care through new technological advances including Proton Beam, Bio Medical Research, and experimental cancer therapies.

As the Christie's Digital Service, we need to deliver the digital platforms to support these advances.

  • Develop a culture that puts the patient at the heart of what we do. Ensure that continual service improvement mechanisms are in place so that we are learning and incrementally developing excellent services.
  • Work with the Christie Digital Programme to ensure projects are designed with the operational service in mind.
  • Responsible for leading a dynamic team of Digital Application Managers from the front, ensuring customer focus is at the heart of everything they do.
  • Set and manage requirements and establish processes and procedures, ensuring the team members are adequately training to offer a highquality service.
  • Lead and manage the Digital Application Managers to deliver software and experiences that meets the needs of Trust and our staff
  • Lead the management and development of clinical systems that support the delivery of the highest care and quality to patients.
  • Create, implement, and maintain a continuous improvement plan for Application Management and establish and embed mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all Application Management activities.
  • Work closely with Digital Operations, Infrastructure and End User Technology teams to ensure smooth transition of projects to BusinessasUsual activities, ensuring enough resource and knowledge is present.
  • Lead the management of business cases and bids where Application Management is involved, providing a quality check ensuring that all resourcing requirements and costs are identified and that expected benefits and outcomes are capable of being achieved and delivered.
