This is a full time position

This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2024

We are looking for a creative communicator who is eager to use their skills to help keep the public safe by engaging with communities about Watch Schemes and neighbourhood policing initiatives.


During this fixed term contract you will join a team of professional communicators within West Mercia Police but will work closely with our volunteer network and local police officers and PCSOs, you'll have a focus on sharing good news, campaigns and information on a range of issues associated with neighbourhood policing and crime prevention.

It'd be a perfect fit for anyone early in a communications, marketing, PR or journalism career.


We need someone who is creative, has a good eye for detail, can work at a fast pace and communicate effectively to a range of audiences.

If you have a good sense of humour, a love of being busy and a strong-work ethic you will fit in well with our team.


  • At least one years' relevant work experience in a communications team with a media and/or digital focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of different communication disciplines internal, marketing, digital and how they operate together.
  • An understanding of what great communication (including social media) looks like and can achieve, and how the best content and reactive responses can contribute to engagement levels.
