CNC Operator - Dumbarton

Permanent roles - 35-hour week - £20.00 per hour
Our client, an international manufacturing organisation based in Dumbarton is recruiting for experienced CNC Operators.


Early shift/back shift rotation on a Monday to Friday basis.
The main responsibility of this role includes machining components using conventional and CNC machine tools including set-up and adjustment.

This will involve working in line with health and safety guidance, working unsupervised and the ability to understand engineering drawings to ensure accurate completion of work activities.


Other responsibilities of the role include working closely with the team to support all work areas, maintaining and housekeeping of work areas and engaging in business initiatives to streamline work activities.


Key responsibilities

  • Satisfy Machining and Fitting requirements within the workshop, by employing efficient and effective working practices.
  • Ensure Safety and Quality standards are maintained, and job specifications comply with company and client requirements.
  • Operate CNC machining equipment, including setup and adjustment.
  • Programming, setting and operating.
  • Able to read and correctly interpret engineering documentation.
  • Produce parts of moderate to high complexity meeting documented specifications.
  • Machining of components using conventional and CNC Machine tools.
  • Observe Machine operation to verify accuracy of settings and detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, adjusting machine to control quality process.
  • Maintain high standard of housekeeping and Operate Safely in line with Company Health & safety policy.
  • Maintain machine, tooling and parts to ensure equipment remains in optical operating condition.
  • Regularly inspect cutting tools for sharpness and usability.
  • Handle customer information in line with data protection compliance
  • A minimum of 3 years in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • CNC turning/milling experience and ability to read Engineering drawings is essential.
  • Fanuc / Mazatrol experience.

Qualifications, essential & regulatory:


  • Recognised Engineering apprenticeship or relevant technical Qualification.
  • Operational knowledge of CNC machinery.
  • Experience with Fanuc Controls.
  • An ability to read Engineering drawings is essential.
  • Sufficient and appropriate experience in a Manufacturing Environment is required.
  • Must have personal commitment to Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and coordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
  • Continually seeks to identify new ideas and implement new opportunities, which deliver operational benefit.
  • The ability to build and develop effective relationships and use these to improve performance.
