Applications are invited for the post of Personal Assistant in the Vice-Chancellor and Principal's Office.

Royal Holloway is organised into six Academic Schools, each led by an Executive Dean. This post is designed to provide support to the Executive Deans and Associate PVC's. The Vice-Chancellor and Principal's Office support team is led by the Executive Officer.

The team provides a central business management function, supporting the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and members of the senior leadership team in their duties to ensure they are appropriately briefed, prepared, and kept abreast of issues.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the Executive Deans and Associate PVC's activities and work priorities to put in place the necessary executive support

This includes:

  • Diary management
  • Scheduling annual and ad hoc meetings for the School Executive Team.
  • Ensuring meeting papers are received
  • Ensuring actions arising from meetings are completed within deadlines
  • Maintaining the School's calendar of meetings and ensure that the meetings are in place before the start of the new academic year.
  • Understand and operate effectively within the University's processes, in particular finance, HR and Student Administration
  • Make travel arrangements and logistics in line with University policy, prepare itineraries and event programmes for the Management team.
  • Build and maintain awareness on what is happening within the University both in the academy and professional services


Further essential skills include an organised approach, minute taking experience, the ability to solve problems and previous experience providing support at Senior level.

There is some out of hours working.
