Off Highway vehicles

Staffordshire, onsite position

Excellent basic salary, 7.5%/10% pension, 3 weeks shut down holidays plus 10 floating holiday days.

We are working with a British manufacturer of world beating off highway vehicles and equipment. The business is seeing unprecedented levels of orders coming from all over Europe and beyond.

The business has asked us to assist in the search and recruitment for a commercially aware and tenacious indirect/Nonproduction Buyer to work within a particularly important part of the commercial and procurement team. You will define a categorystrategy and develop a best-in-class process that will help drive quality, cost saving and improved service offering from the suppliers.

You will be part of a high performing procurement function that has a multimillion pound spend per annum and the categories you will be involved with are wide ranging from professional services, security, health and safety and Telecommunications.


You will be the commodity lead working within guidelines and processes, to ensure the businessunderstands the needs for each commodity area, you will evaluate the current supply base and understand what they need to change to support the future of group,considering Cost, Quality, and Innovation.

In order to achieve this you'll need to work closely with all aspects of the business which could include Sales, Engineering, Service, Research, Quality, Operations, HR, IT, Site Services and many more.


As an indirect Buyer you will be expected to propose future direction of the sourcing and to manage the supplier relationships in order to add value, ensuring the business isa priority customer on critical products and services.

You'll work closely withother teams across globe to support and manage suppliers, as well as taking the lead in commercial negotiations.

Buyers need to have a close working relationship with stakeholders who manage the day-to-day activities.


Your Responsibilities as a Buyer for Non-Production:

  • To ensure the business has a robust and competitive supply chain you will be responsible for
  • Developing Commodity Strategies for each area of responsibility, working with the wider business to ensure strategies are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Develop and lead supplier relationships to deliver tangible mutual benefits.
  • Work with suppliers and stakeholders to reduce cost and or add additional value to our business.
  • Build strong relationships internally and the supply base, be responsible and accountable to make and influence key decisions that are in the best interest of the organisation.
  • Manage multiple resource / capacity projects with suppliers.
  • Identify and drive cost reduction activities across the wider group.
  • Leading contractual negotiations for your suppliers (Long Term Agreements, Service Agreements, terms & conditions)

About you:

  • Significant procurement experience preferably within a manufacturing business with strong knowledge of indirect and nonproduction categories.
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful longterm commodity strategies
  • Understanding of key cost drivers within a supply base
  • Confident negotiator with a proven record of creating cost ideas and delivering significant reductions.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating cross functional teams to ensure ontime delivery.
  • Experience managing high level supplier relationships, establishing contracts & delivering tangible benefits
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships with key stakeholders.
