Description

Clinical:

To be an integrated part of the clinical team, providing a specialist Mental Health service to adults experiencing varied levels of difficulties, as first point of patient contact.

To provide an excellent understanding and working knowledge of common mental health problems and their management in primary care. To sign post people to resources in the local area which may be of benefit. e.g.

voluntary and community organisations, educational and recreational opportunities. To provide follow up appointments when required. To deliver brief therapy interventions as part of an individual needs led plan.

To continually assess and evaluate risk To maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to evaluating outcome To offer support, education and guidance to colleagues within the Primary Care Team.


Professional:
To participate in clinical team and multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate.

To ensure you undertake appropriate regular Clinical supervision To maintain and further develop high standards of practice through co-operative work with other clinicians.

To demonstrate continued personal and professional development and comply with statutory and mandatory training requirements. To use verbal and non-verbal communication skills to impart sensitive information to patients.

Maintain an active status on the NMC Register or relevant professional body, acting in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct, maintaining own competency to practice


General:

To achieve and maintain high standards of record keeping in line with current legislation To undertake such training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise.

The role and responsibility of the post will be reviewed regularly between the jobholder and the line manager at annual appraisal or at other appropriate times where there are significant changes to the purpose of the role.
