    Job summary

    Due to staff retirement, andcurrent demand for our services, we are seekingto recruit a high calibre, newly qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologistfor our Psychology Team working with colleagues across Navigo, providingPsychological consultancy, support and guidance.

    You will joina team of Practitioner Psychologists, Psychological Therapists and AssistantPsychologists, providing Psychological assessments and evidence-based therapiesto Adults within North East Lincolnshire.

    We encouragecareer progression to allow you the opportunity to develop your skills andcompetencies in-line with service needs. One day a week is available tocomplete continuing professional development (CPD) and facilitate specifictraining in evidence-based therapies to a professionally accredited standard.After a minimum of two years from appointment and the completion of settargets, you will have the opportunity for promotion to Agenda for Change Band8a.

    Main duties of the job

    You will beembedded into the Community Psychology service, alongside other Psychologicalprofessionals, delivering therapies to service users referred to the Psychologydepartment.

    The department receivereferrals for a range of mental health disorders, such as Post-traumatic StressDisorder, Personality Disorder, Bipolar, Depression and Anxiety Disorders, sothe candidate will develop a variety of therapeutic skills and work towardsaccreditation in evidence-based therapies.

    You may be required to conductpsychometric investigations of neuropsychological difficulties, supportingcolleagues with formulation and treatment planning.

    Other duties mayinclude attending MDT's, being involved in the training of non-Psychologystaff, as part of the organisations Community Mental Health transformationstrategy, and also providing supervision to other Psychology professionals andoccasionally other mental health professionals across the organisation.

    Job responsibilities

    Accountablefor own professional practice in the delivery of specialist psychological careto clients with complex mental health conditions, which may include challengingbehaviours.

    To becompassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.

    To provideadvice, guidance and clinical supervision to less experienced colleagues withinthe designated psychology service and to other members of the multidisciplinaryteam.

    To undertakeformal research as an integral part of the job.

    To promote atall times a positive image of people with mental ill health and any associateddisabilities.

    To maintainminimum standards in accordance with local Payment by Results developments and,in conjunction with colleagues, develop outcome measures to provide anempirically measured standard for delivery of own and superviseespsychological provision.

    MAIN DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES

    Providesspecialist psychological assessment of clients with complex conditions based onthe appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety ofsources.

    Formulatesplans for specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients mentalhealth conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework andevidence-based practice. Negotiates the implementation of such plans withclients and/or their carers.

    Implementsa range of specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers,families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations asrequired.

    Evaluatestherapy options and makes decisions about treatment.

    Providesspecialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staffcontributing directly to clients diagnosis, formulation and intervention plan.

    Responsiblefor recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect,including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking allreasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying andreporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of children who may be at risk.

    Undertakesrisk assessment and risk management for individual clients and providesspecialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of riskassessment and risk management.

    AdministrativeResponsibilities.

    Requiredat times to undertake administrative tasks in relation to own work.

    UsesMicrosoft Office applications on a daily basis.

    Responsibilityfor information systems.

    Responsiblefor maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient/client records usingSYSTMONE in accordance with the organisational and professional record keepingstandards.

    Writesreports for other members of the multidisciplinary team and external partiesregarding patient/client related matters.

    Usespsychometric testing and associated software packages.

    May usesoftware packages for statistical analysis.

    Responsibilityfor Planning/Organising & Strategic/Business Development

    Organisesown workload on a day-to-day basis, prioritising work as appropriate.

    Assistsin the allocation of work to assistant and trainee psychologists.

    Plansindividual patient/client care and acts as care co-ordinator/lead practitioner,where appropriate, ensuring the provision of a multidisciplinary care packageappropriate for the clients needs.

    Ensuresthat new or revised policies and procedures are communicated effectively toassistant, trainee and newly qualified psychologists and put into practice.

    Pro-activein identifying and proposing changes to local procedures and working practicesin own area and plays a significant role in implementation.

    Pro-activein identifying and proposing safety, quality and service improvements withinown work area.

    Participatesin the development, monitoring and evaluation of service improvements in ownarea.

  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • HCPC registration as a clinical/counselling psychologist
  • Trained in care co-ordination (within agreed timescale)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model
  • Registration with BPS
  • Experience

  • Must have experience/interest in working with serious mental illness cohorts

  • Experience of CBT, DBT, EMDR and other evidence-based therapies
