This is a great way for people who have little-to-no experience in a environment to utilize their transferableskills and get their foot in the door.

Some of the roles and responsibilities for this role include:

Exceptional, versatile and creative communication skills

- children with Autism often communicate in different ways to us. You must be able to adapt to their modes of communication and/or assist them in finding the communication method that works best forthem

Helping to create and maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where children and young people feel safe and valued
Displaying excellent levels of empathy and understanding
Being adaptable

- each child's needs are specific to them and demands can vary widely. You must be able to adapt and tend to these requirements

Physically fit

- the school implements an active curriculum where you will be required to stand up and move around for long periods

The ability to work independently and as part of a team

- you may be placed in a classroom with other learning support assistants or asked to work on a 1:1 basis with a child

Using initiative

- working with children is often unpredictable. You must be able to use high levels of initiative to swiftly defuse unforeseen and challenging circumstances
