We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a blended working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The Digital Marketing team aim for around 1-2 days a week in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings but again, are flexible on this.

About the role:


As the Digital Marketing Lead, you are accountable for strategy development, leadership and overall delivery of our digital channels (PPC, programmatic and affiliates).

You will be responsible for developing and executing the John Lewis digital marketing initiatives across various online channels.


You will be at the forefront of how John Lewis engages with customers in digital marketing, providing expertise in data-led performance marketing and defining where new technologies will support our business ambitions.


Key responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital marketing strategy aligned with the customer plan and overall brand and customer strategy
  • Manage and lead a team of digital marketing Partners, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to drive performance
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and optimisation of digital marketing campaigns, including PPC, programmatic and affiliates
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer behaviour, and competitive landscape, leveraging insights to drive innovative digital marketing strategies through new technology
  • Collaborate with the content and creative team to develop engaging and visually appealing digital content that aligns with brand guidelines and resonates with the target audience.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators and insight to evaluate the effectiveness of digital marketing and make datadriven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital marketing, and proactively recommend new strategies and tactics to drive growth.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies (e.g. Manning Gottlieb) to ensure timely and highquality delivery of digital marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee the collaboration with the ecommerce team to optimise the customer journey, improve website user experience, and drive conversion rates.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations to leadership teams, highlighting key performance metrics, insights, and recommendations.
  • Lead the team to deliver an ambitious performance plan and capability roadmap.
  • Instil a culture of high performance and customer centric thinking across the immediate team and cross functionally.
  • Drive for continual improvement in team performance and encourages development of self and others, cultivating a collaborative and motivated team environment.

Essential skills you'll need:


  • Proven experience in digital marketing, with a focus on ecommerce and retail environments.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and inspire a team.
  • Indepth knowledge of digital marketing channels, strategies, and tools, including PPC,affiliates, programmatic and analytics platforms
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and make datadriven decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A passion for staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
