    Reporting to the Contract Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for independently carrying out general reactive maintenance tasks whilst also assisting Building Fabric & Civils tradesmen to carry out various planned and reactive maintenance tasks.

    Location: Cannock/West Midlands Hours: 40 Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time

    The Multi-Skilled Operative (Carpenter) shall:

  • Carry out planned and reactive works within the agreed times and to the highest standard, complying with current regulations and clients' specifications
  • Inspect plant & equipment, ensuring results are captured accurately
  • Work either as part of the maintenance team completing small maintenance activities or work independently on minor tasks without local supervision
  • Be able to carry out works as per agreed timeframes ensuring practical completion is achieved as scheduled
  • Undertake a wide range of maintenance repairs including installation of building fabrics
  • Manage & replenish local site stock
  • Carry out deliveries of material between sites and local suppliers.
  • Sites Waste Management
  • Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times and ensure the best possible working practices are adhered.
  • Will be comfortable working at height
  • Typical preferred expectations in addition to general items :

  • Experienced carpenter with a good range of skills
  • At least 2 years' experience working professionally in the industry (1st and 2nd fix carpentry )
  • Ability to use woodwork machinery and hand tools (tools can be provided)
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • General knowledge and ability to carry out minor plastering, plumbing and tiling / repairs
  • Small amounts of general painting
  • About You

    Essential

  • Demonstrate relevant experience within the maintenance & construction industry
  • Current Full UK Driver's Licence
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Desirable Criteria

  • Trade Qualification minimum Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) – Site Carpentry
  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks
  • IOSH/CSCS
