This is a great opportunity for someone to join our amazing team and improve outcomes for children right across Middlesbrough

The post is designed to complement the existing work of our well-established Inclusion Teams, focusing particularly on children with Education Health and Care Plans.

The job of an Inclusion Officer is to give information, advice and guidance to staff in schools and other educational settings and work with a wide range of professionals and organisations to help them to meet children's individual needs, promote inclusion and prevent exclusions.

You will be based at the Community Learning Centre on the Acklam Grange School site, but the job can involve visits to schools and settings across Middlesbrough so you will need to have independent transport (appropriate mileage costs are paid).

The inclusion teams follow a hybrid working model, spending some time working from home, time in the office and some time in schools and settings.

  • Knowledge & experience of supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs._
  • Good understanding of how children and young people learn and strategies to support inclusive learning and wellbeing._
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the SEND Code of Practice._
  • The ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and the confidence to advise and coach others to overcome barriers to successful inclusion._
  • The ability to organise their own time and prioritise tasks._
  • Flexibility, positive energy, a solutionfocused approach & resilience._
  • Good IT skills and excellent communication skills._
  • A commitment to working with children and young people whose needs may not currently be met in mainstream and a desire to support them, their families and those who work with them._

This is a new post as we are developing our highly successful Inclusion & Outreach Teams to offer more specific support to children and young people with EHCPs.

We always offer excellent training and support.
